Niederländische Stehlampe von Hiemstra Evolux, 1960er

In 1934 Niek Hiemstra and his brother in law founded the lighting firm Hiemstra & Evenblij. After his companion left the business in 1952 Hiemstra went on alone and changed the brand name to Hiemstra Evolux (a merger of ‘evolution’ and ‘light’). Around the 1960s the company’s lighting designs had evolved to a pronounced Modernist style. This particular model is probably the classic from this Hiemstra Evolux range. The shade is equipped with four bulbs: three emitting light downward and one facing upward. The two switches allow for a for three different light settings: only downward, only upward or all four bulbs switched on. Though the lamp offered shows some signs of use it is still in fully funtional, original and unrestored condition.
